Workshop

1. Platinum Group Minerals: Identification, Exploration and Prospects

On the occasion of the 1st International Congress on Earth Sciences a workshop titled “Platinum Group Minerals: Identification, Exploration and Prospects” will be organised. Two well-known scientists Professor Giorgio Garuti and Dr Federica Zaccarini will be instructing the workshop.

They will present methods for the identification of Platinum Group Minerals under reflected light microscope and scanning electron microscope and will train the participants on the most recent developments on their scientific and economic significance.

Due to the nature of the workshop, the number of participants is restricted to 40 persons and registrations for the event will be entertained on a first come first serve basis.

2. Modern and fossil Benthic Foraminifera in Brunei Darussalam

This workshop is designed to give an overview to the most common morphotypes of Benthic foraminifera commonly occurring in the modern and fossil marine sediments in Brunei. The workshop will give the participants the opportunity to develop skills in identifying the most common taxa and to get along with their either biostratigraphic and ecological indications.

The workshop will be instructed by Dr Antonino Briguglio and is organized into two parts:

  • The first part is more basic and is designed for beginners with little to no experience in foraminiferology and will mainly deal with modern and exceptionally preserved foraminifera
  • The second part is targeted for those with more experience and will concentrate with the more difficult fossil forms.

Minimum participants 5, maximum participant 20.
