A historical day for both Geology at UBD and the University itself dawned on the 9th of September 2015. The first cohort of Geologists, under GenNEXT, graduated from UBD. These students spent 4 years at the University perhaps with many difficulties until good organisation was achieved, troublous times, sad moments, but definitely with many happy occasions to remember. Geology Lecturers were among the audience on the Convocation day and we were all very excited watching our students graduate while recalling all the good and perhaps bad moments we spent together. Some of us have known these students since they were enrolled in UBD and some others we met later but, for all of us, it was an emotional moment to see them, our “spiritual children”, to achieve their dream and their first scientific goal in their lives. May the warmest wishes of UBD Geology staff accompany them in all their lives. We look forward to see them progressing either in advanced studies or pursuing prolific professional careers. From now and on, UBD will be proud of their Geology graduates as they will be integral parts of their alumni and we are sure that they will offer their services to the society with really high standards.
