Geology Lecturer awarded research grant by the National Geographic Society, USA

Dr. Afroz Ahmad Shah, Assistant Professor of Structural Geology at FOS, has been awarded a research grant by the Committee for Research and Exploration of the National Geographic Society, USA. The project, titled, “Mapping and paleoseismology of unknown active faults in Jammu and Kashmir, NW Himalaya” was given the amount of 20,000 USD for a year. This amount will be renewed based on the progress of the work achieved. Dr. Afroz is currently working on this project and was recently in Kashmir for a brief fieldwork trip. He will be undertaking a large scale mapping in the region in the middle of 2018.
