FOS hosts 3rd Joint Symposium between Osaka University and Bruneian Higher Education Institutions

This one-day symposium, officiated by Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, involved collaborative discussions between researchers from Osaka University, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali.

FOS researcher involved in the discovery of tsikourasite, a new and rare phosphide material


The name of the mineral was officially approved by the International Mineralogical Association in honour of Associate Professor Dr. Basilios Tsikouras from FOS’ Geological Sciences Programme.

FOS researcher’s work mapping Earth’s hidden tree-microbe network published in Nature


The paper, published as part of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) consortium, which includes AP Dr Ferry Slik from the Environmental and Life Sciences Programme, mapped underground network of microbes connecting forest trees around the world.
