One of the presentations demonstrated the destructive power of a virus software, jointly developed by Ton That Bao (an FPT university student) and Thilan Shiroyuki Liyanage, who recently completed his A-levels at Jerudong International School. The duo showed that in order to develop a defense against the virus, an understanding into the mechanism of the virus is needed. During this presentation, the audience witnessed how easily the virus spreads itself, unnoticed and silently collected every single keystroke made by the user.
Another presentation showcased FBRU, a Brunei food search engine developed by Siti Mufassirah binti Zaini, a third year student from FOS’ Environmental and Life Science Programme, and Ho Trọng Đức (an FPT university student). During this presentation, they displayed the various features implemented in their web application. It was a considerable achievement for Siti Mufassirah binti Zaini, who, prior to the 16-week training, had no knowledge of programming.
Another FOS student, Muhammad Adib Bin Asri presented an online bicycle rental web application called Core Cycle, an idea inspired by the increasing popularity of cycling in Brunei and on the UBD campus. He demonstrated the functionalities of the web app that have been implemented in his work and discussed ideas for future developments.
A recent graduate from FOS’ Computer Science BSc programme, Ak Adri Fadhlan bin Pg Hj Rakawi, together with Ngô Ngôc Lâm (an FPT university student) demonstrated their work on remote control of home devices from a web interface and mobile phones. They shared the technical abilities they had gained from the lab program, as well as the results of the project, focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
