Greetings from the Faculty of Science (FOS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam. I am pleased to share our faculty newsletter for June 2017. FOS continues to develop via research and academic activities of our staff and students, and we are excited to share these highlights with you. Eminent Visiting Professor, Professor Michael Yu Wang Shares His Vision on various engineering fields

Professor Wang was invited under UBD’s Eminent Visiting, Professor and Visiting Appointment (EVPVA) Scheme. As a distinguished expert visiting UBD, he delivered a public lecture, chaired a symposium and shared his professional expertise and network through his research collaborations.

Postgraduate students participate in food value chain (FVC) intensive course in Kasetsart University, Thailand

Four postgraduate students from Biology and Chemistry programme were awarded a scholarship to participate in a food value chain (FVC) intensive course held at Kasetsart University in Thailand from 29th January until 11th February 2017.

Shell Eco-Marathon Asia – Profile Spotlight: Mr Chong Kim Onn

The Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2017 was held in Singapore from March 16-19 2017.UBD’s Team GenNext Pejuang, with their Prototype Battery Electric Car, GenNovative’35 placed 10th in their category, and was mentored by FOS lecturer in Computer Science, Mr Chong Kim Onn.

Geology student’s DY experience with volcanoes

Current 4th year Geology student Md Khairul Zhafri bin Haji Mohd Noor spent four months at the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (CVGHM) in Bandung, Indonesia, for his Discovery Year (DY) semester abroad. This was a golden opportunity for Md Khairul Zhafri to work alongside geological experts from Indonesia as they are very experienced with research on volcanoes.
