Biosensors and Biotechnology Laboratory at UBD shine with high impact publications and US patent
Faculty of Science researchers have published a paper discussing a novel detection method for porcine and bacteria using luminescent dyes in the Biosensors and Bioelectronics Journal (Impact factor 7.4). They have also been awarded a United States Patent for the invention of a novel electrochemical DNA biosensor using graphene biochip for species identification.

The Flora Malesiana Symposium takes place every three years and is organized by the Flora Malesiana Foundation. This year's symposium held in Edinburgh was attended by Dr Daniele Cicuzza, Assistant Professor of lower plant biology/taxonomy and diversity at UBD.

Three students from FOS majoring in Computer Science were chosen to participate in the seeds for the Future Program sponsored by Huawei Technologies Brunei. The students attended lectures relating to Internet and Mobile networking instructed by Huawei and also had the chance to visit two key exhibition halls showcasing Huawei’s latest innovative products.

The Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Training programme took place in July, 2016 and was co-organised by both BruWILD and the IWRC. The programme was funded by The Embassy of the United States, Brunei with additional support provided by the Wildlife Division (Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism), Universiti Brunei Darussalam and International School Brunei (ISB).
