Assoc. Prof. Dr. Malai Haniti wins Tertiary Innovation Award at WIP Day 2023

We are proud to announce that our distinguished academic, Associate Professor Dr. Malai Haniti Sheikh Abdul Hamid from the Faculty of Science (FOS), has been honored with the Tertiary Innovation Award at the World Intellectual Property Day 2023 event. Also winning being recognised is Dr. Hajah Asmah Haji Husaini from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS). This prestigious recognition is a testament to their significant contributions to innovation in Brunei.

The World Intellectual Property Day, observed annually on April 26, aims to raise awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property in fostering innovation and creativity. This year, Brunei Darussalam celebrated the event on October 26, 2023, with a special focus on the theme “Woman and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity.” The celebration, organized by the Brunei Darussalam Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO) and Datastream Digital Sendirian Berhad (DST) as a strategic partner, took place at the Songket Hall, Rizqun International Hotel.

Dr. Hajah Asmah and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Malai Haniti’s achievements highlight the critical role of women in advancing intellectual property and innovation. Their work exemplifies the spirit of this year’s theme, showcasing how female academics and researchers are at the forefront of driving progress and creativity in various fields.
