How this website handles personal information.

This notice explains how the Faculty of Science at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) handles personal information collected through this website. It covers this website only. Other UBD systems — the admissions portal, myUBD, the student digital-ID application, the library and Canvas — have their own notices.
Who is responsible

What we collect
Information you give us. If you send an enquiry through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic you select and your message. We use this only to answer your enquiry and to follow it up.
Information collected automatically. Technical information is recorded each time a page is opened: pages visited, date and time, approximate location from your network address, device and browser type, and the referring page. This is collected through Google Analytics and used in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
Cookies. This site sets cookies necessary for it to work, performance and tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for, and you should not send us through this website, identity card or passport numbers, financial details, or health or medical information. Applications to study are made through the UBD admissions portal, not through this site.
Content served by other organisations
- UBD Experts (Elsevier Pure) — publication, project and equipment records, and the collaboration map on the Research page.
- Instagram (Meta) — the @ubdfos feed on the home page.
- Google Maps — the campus map on the Contact page.
- Google Fonts — the typeface used across the site.
Each organisation handles any information it receives under its own privacy terms, which we do not control.
How long we keep information
Enquiries are kept for 12 months and then deleted, unless the matter is still open or we are required to keep them longer. Analytics data is retained for 24 months.
Who can see it
Enquiries are seen by the Faculty office staff who handle the subject you selected, and are passed to the relevant colleague where an answer requires it. We do not sell personal information and do not share it outside UBD except where the law requires it or where a service provider processes it on our behalf under contract.
Keeping information secure
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to enquiry records and to site administration is limited to named staff and the appointed website contractor, protected by individual accounts.
Your choices
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete an enquiry you have sent. Write to office.fos@ubd.edu.bn. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may raise the matter with the UBD Office of Legal Affairs.
Staff information on this site
The staff pages publish the name, position, administrative role, discipline, office, work telephone number, work email address and research profile link of Faculty staff, so that students, colleagues and collaborators can make contact. Staff who wish a detail withheld should contact the Faculty office.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when the site or the way we handle information changes. The date above shows when it was last revised.
